Adaptive Baseball Game for Children with Disabilities
For Abby’s Eagle Project, she collaborated with the IMAGE Center of Maryland to host a baseball game for children with disabilities living in Baltimore City at the Baer School. The event was an Orioles-themed “game day”-like experience for the kids, complete with walk-up music and Orioles-themed t-shirts. Baseball-themed food was provided as well as baseball-related carnival games like Plinko, milk-bottle toss, and corn-hole. Members of Abby’s volunteer team were paired with a student to assist them throughout the game. The event provided a therapeutic, accessible, and fun experience for Baer School students with multiple disabilities.
Not only was the event a success, but Abby’s project won the Gunpowder Falls District Eagle Project of the year award!
