Parent Meeting Summary
Our back to Scouting meeting was held on 05 September detailing all the changes for the year and we began organizing the troop for the new joint troop pilot program. Meeting minutes are available here for anyone who was unable to attend.

Below is a quick summary on our upcoming events.
- 11 January 9:00 AM – 12:00 PM Towson Tree Trimming Service Project – Meet at the 500 block of Overbrook. The troop will be partaking in a tree pruning project on Overbrook rd as a service project. Come learn the art of tree care from professionals as we beautify our local community. Everyone should bring a water bottle, gloves and something to protect their eyes (sunglasses at a minimum. If folks have sharp pruning saws and loppers, they can bring them. Snacks will be provided.
- 24 – 26 January – SKI Weekend. We are fully booked for this weekend. If you would like to be added to the waitlist in case a spot opens up or would like to confirm your space is reserved, please email committee@troopawesome.com Cabin camping and Round top Ski Weekend. Scouts are required to purchase lift tickets or tubing individually. No discounts are provided by the resort. Lift tickets, rentals and lessons can be purchased at the resort if communicated with the committee chair otherwise the expectation will be to have all passes ahead of time. Skiers will be at the mountain at 0830 on Saturday the 25th to be fully geared up with the lifts open at 0900. We will plan on lunch in the parking lot at 1200. Tubing will start at 1:00. Tubing must be purchased for the specific time slot. Recommend getting tickets ASAP, they are on sale now and will sell out.

- 23 February – Merit Badge Weekend. Hensen Lodge at Camp Spenser. Multi Troop Event.
- 28 – 30 March -Hiking weekend. Details subject to change.
- 05 April – Mulch SALE. Participation is required.
- 25 – 27 April – Marsden Tract camping and DC Scavenger hunt
- 06 – 12 July Summer Camp T. Brady Saunders – Summer camp has been chosen. The troop requires an initial $50 deposit to reserve a space with the full payment required by March 1. Be sure to sign up on Scoutbbook and make your deposit by 01 January 2025.

Scoutbook Signups
When signing up for an event, the big yellow button in the middle of the page signs up the logged in user only. This has resulted in many parents registering themselves to go camping instead of their scout. To fix this expand the ‘My Youth Connections’ drop down and RSVP your scout accordingly.
Troop Requirement
If you will be camping overnight with the troop, you MUST have a background check via Scouts BSA. This is easily accomplished by registering to become a ‘Scout Reserve’. Note: Merit Badge Counselor is no longer acceptable. The required position code is 91. The Troop will reimburse all fees.
Payment Updates
All scout parents, please confirm your registration on my.scouting.org. Most of our troops renew in December and Parents are now required to register their scouts annually through that portal.
For 1729 we just discovered the dues owed to the troop only show if you select troop 729 when looking at your scout in Scoutbook. Please check your scouts 729 scout account there is an extensive balance. A screenshot is below for reference.
